2019-08-01

Lech Wałęsa Institute Foundation applied for funding within the “European remembrance” component, addressed to organisations conducting actions supporting reflection on the topic of European diversity and broadly understood common values. Overall, 262 applications were submitted in the program, with 45 donations granted, including only 4 in Poland. Institute is among these four.

The project encompasses funding for initiatives aiming to trigger reflection on the causes and origins of totalitarian regimes in the history of modern Europe and commemorate the victims of these systems. Using the granted funding, the Institute will realise educational project under the title “Education for the future”. The goal of the project is to build awareness of the threats of communism and fascism among young citizens.

We are very pleased with the decision of the commission which is a sign of confidence for us. Thanks for the granted funding the Institute will be able to realise further actions in accordance with its mission, designated by our Founder, president Lech Wałęsa.
