Second edition of Solidarity Shorts is underway!

2014-06-16

The goal of this year’s edition is to encourage young people from all over the world to carefully reflect on the relations between people and cultures in today’s world. Candidates must be eighteen years of age and can come from any country in the world. The mission of Solidarity Shorts is to allow its contestants to show what the idea of solidarity means to them today, and, at the same time, teach them of the history of Poland’s “Solidarity” (Solidarność) movement. The winning films of the 2013 edition of Solidarity Shorts can be viewed in the gallery of Google Cultural Institute or on the official website of Solidarity Shorts.

Short amateur films from 1 to 3 minutes in length, shot using the participant’s method of choice (cellular phone, still camera or video camera) can be entered into the competition. The films in this year’s edition of the contest will represent three different categories: feature film, documentary, and animation. Contest entries will be accepted until July 31 of this year.

The creators of the three best films, one from each category chosen by the jury and one additional chosen by the online audience will receive the following prizes: a two-way ticket to Poland from any location in the world, accommodation in Poland and participation in the Gdynia Film Festival, which will take place in September of this year in Gdynia.

The contest gallery, where film entries can be viewed and voted for, is available on the official website of Solidarity Shorts.
