Today marks the 30th anniversary of the outbreak of the Velvet Revolution in Czechoslovakia, a peaceful uprising which, under the leadership of Vaclav Havel, led to the collapse of the Communist regime in Prague. On this occasion, President Wałęsa wished the Czechs and Slovaks well.

"Congratulations on the successful transition. Together we have changed Europe and the world. God bless the Czech and Slovak people," he wrote on his Facebook profile.
